Why Urban Gardens
European cities face growing environmental challenges, including reduced biodiversity and limited green spaces. At the same time, many adults lack practical knowledge in sustainable urban practices and digital tools that can support greener living.
Urban Gardens for Communities addresses these needs by promoting sustainable urban gardening as an accessible solution for environmental action and community engagement. The project combines hands-on workshops with awareness of free AI tools for garden management, while strengthening the capacity of partner organisations to deliver inclusive adult education in France, Portugal, and Bulgaria.
Expected Results
Strengthened Staff Capacity
Through a transnational training in France, 9 staff members will strengthen their competencies in sustainable urban gardening and digital tools, improving the quality of adult education delivery across partner organisations.
Development of Practical Green & Digital Skills
Local workshops will provide adults with practical skills in sustainable cultivation, container gardening, biodiversity practices, and basic digital tools to support efficient garden management.
Sustainable Educational
The project will produce a Digital Handbook compiling methodologies and practical guidance, ensuring that the knowledge generated remains accessible beyond the project duration.
Tangible Environmental Outcomes
A total of 45 container gardens will be established across partner countries, demonstrating applied learning and contributing to greener urban environments.
Increased Community Awareness
A dedicated awareness campaign will engage approximately 150 adults, promoting environmentally responsible urban gardening practices and raising awareness of digital tools for garden management..
